West Quay Store Ready to Open

IFOAppleStore reports that the West Quay Apple Store in Southampton, UK was due for a pre-Christmas opening but was delayed due to it being too close to the Christmas period.

The Store is now delayed due to fears of post-Christmas sales affecting consumer spending. It is expected to open in late-January to early-February.

Of note the Brent Cross Apple Store opened in the UK on January 28th 2006.

iTunes and Quicktime Update Imminent

AppleInsider has posted an article referring to the upcoming release of updated iTunes and Quicktime applications.

In particular the rumour site suggests that iTunes 7.1 and Quicktime 7.1.5 will make an appearance soon, with it placing an estimated release period of 45 days for iTunes 7.1.

The updates are said to enable the applications to support the recently announced Apple TV as well as fix a number of software bugs.

AppleInsider has also released a report concerning the internals of the recently released Apple TV.

Apple TVThe device is known to contain a 40GB hard drive and an Intel processor as both of these are listed on Apple’s website, but AppleInsider goes further by claiming that the device runs on a “1.0GHz Pentium M-based chip (code-named “Crofton”), which has been under-clocked to run on a 350MHz bus.”

The article goes onto describe what makes up the graphics power behind the device, Apple TV uses a nVidia G72M with 64MB DDR2 Video memory and 256MB of system memory, which is said to be soldered onto the board.

The internal hard drive is a 40GB 2.5-inch PATA, with no brand name made available.
